October is a great month. There are so many different things going on at school.

  1. We started Tech Buddies with our first grade friends last week. We had a great time learning from them.
  2. We are starting a new reading unit...MYSTERIES! Mysteries are so much fun this time of the year. My students have picked out a mystery to read with their partner.
  3. We have started working with data and graphing. On Friday, we made "Pumpkin Glyphs." During small groups, each child will analyze the data from the glyphs and create a bar graph.
  4. We will start our social studies unit. We will learn and discuss the three types of communities: rural, urban, and suburban.
Reminders:

Our field trip is on Monday! Please have your child bring a bag lunch (no lunch boxes) with a drink. We will be learning about different places in our community.

Conferences are this week. Please be on time.

No school Friday for teacher workday.

Getting back to school

A new school year is very exciting. It is also nerve wrecking. My room is done. Paperwork is on each little desk, ready for each little third grader.  This time of year is full of so many possibilities. I think that is why I get excited and anxious. Ideas to try, better goals to achieve, and trying to be an even better teacher than the last. I hope my students are as excited as I am. I hope they come ready to get out of their comfort zone. This WILL be a fantastic year in third grade.
